After raising your funds and training with your team, you will fly to Ukraine where you will teach children about a God who loves them and a man named Jesus Christ.
Roma, an orphan, had never had a birthday party in his life. His counselor informed us that his birthday was coming up on Tuesday the second week of camp. His plan for celebrating his birthday was to sneak off into the woods and get drunk with his friends. So Dasha (my translator) and I went shopping while we were in town on the weekend. We got a card, cookies, candy, coke, and candles. I had taken some balloons, which we used to decorate the dining area where our team had its meals. We surprised him on Tuesday night. He was totally shocked. Considering that he was the most vocal one in my classes, he was strangely quite. He just didn't know what to say. He later told his counselor that this was a birthday he would never forget. -- Brad (Colorado)
